Entrepreneur Diaries: The Secrets of Making a Successful Presentation

As much as we love being impressed with presentations, the art of public speaking is one thing not every entrepreneur has been blessed with. They don’t have experience, they don’t have confidence.

But as recent research has shown, presentational skills are compulsory to please your client. The best part is anyone can learn to give dynamic speeches and presentations if they know the right secrets.

Be Passionate

You are out there to reason with them, hook them on to the service or product that you are selling. So what if you are doing it half-heartedly? Would that really let you score points with the audience?. You need to be articulate and that only comes if you have a passion to share.

In fact, ensure that you don’t ditch effective body language and other business etiquette along with your dramatic tone and emphasis. Say you have fifteen minutes, don’t waste it by being late and then beating around the bush. Start with a “bang” and catch their attention immediately. Be eloquent but not mechanical when supporting your promise. Make it relevant and important to the customers with your style – even if it seems a bit far-fetched.

Believe In Your Audience

As an executive, you have to value your team. After all, the more people there are to publicize your business at every opportunity they get, in every way they can, the most profit you will be able to secure. Share the knowledge freely and share their confidence in their competence to make them as determined and enthusiastic as you are. This is what will motivate them to fulfill your expectations and goals.

Deliver Awesome Content

As much as the physical point is important, the information you provide them with matters equally. You are meant to solve their problems. Let them know how to do what they need to achieve success. Demonstrate by focusing on the specifics, one that they can put into practice at once. Keep it simple and easy to learn, so they do not feel deprived of any specialized knowledge.

The best way to do that is to make relate to said knowledge. How? Add a storytelling element like how you motivated an employee to be the best he can be and how well he is doing now – to illustrate the significance of your efforts. Not only will this make them more interested but it will go a long way in cementing their trust in you.

Next, there may be points in your speech/training session too that you want to highlight or render memorable. You can emphasize them during the presentation only by mentioning it as “something [you] may want to write down”. Or draw on them as the summary points when you recap the guide. Don’t forget to have some interesting teasers ready to use at the end to lead them to your next module.

Make It Conversational

A powerful presentation is always one that is interactive. Maintain eye contact and let your viewers participate. Review past presentations to know what improved and where you messed up previously. On a final note, ask your prospects for feedback and thank them for their time.
